Outdoor Music and Movies at The Boston Harbor Hotel
About: The Summer in the City Series offers guests, visitors and local residents the opportunity to enjoy complimentary concerts, movies and live entertainment from the hotel’s unrivaled waterfront location. Each night sports a different theme from Summer Soul Tuesdays and Blues Barge Thursdays to Movies by Moonlight Fridays and more.

Free Thursdays at The ICA
About: Want to peruse the city’s latest modern art exhibitions but afraid that your wallet can’t handle a steep admission fee? Each Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., the Institute of Contemporary Art offers free admission. So turn off the television, get off the couch, and head over to the ICA.

Lawn on D
About: The Seaport District’s funky/friendly urban refuge, Lawn on D, is all about free-ness with a packed docket of gratis events and a generous supply of game gear. But there’s nothing more chillax than hard-to-find bocce.

Concerts in The BPL Courtyard

Stargazing at the Coit Observatory

Hatch Shell Summer Event Series
About: The Hatch Shell is Boston’s largest outdoor performance center that offers free events all summer long. From classical, pop, jazz, and rock concerts to outdoor flicks, the Hatch Shell is the place to be to enjoy the warm summer breeze while lounging on the Esplanade.

Flight Night at Sam Adams
About: Indulge with some friends without breaking the bank at Sam Adams’ Flight Night, where visitors can choose a Sam Adams brew to create their own beer flight. RSVPs are not required, just show up! Must be 21+ to attend.

Boston Calling Block Party Series
About: The Boston Calling Block Party Series returns this season to downtown Boston! The free series will kick off on Thursday, May 7 and will run through September 17, with block parties being held every Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. in Dewey Square. Once a month, the Block Parties will also take place at Summer Street Plaza in Downtown Crossing. All parties will feature free live music outdoors with local artists like Tigerman Woah, Almighty Buck and Dirty Bangs.

SoWa Open Market
About: If the sun is out, so are the vendors at SoWa. Featuring 130 indie designers and artists, 17 food trucks, and 65 specialty food and farm vendors, this is sure to entertain. Running along three blocks on Harrison Avenue and Thayer Street in the South End, SoWa is the place to be for handmade designs, locally grown produce, vintage finds, and gourmet specialty foods.

Free Wednesdays at the MFA
About: The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Boston is the main art museum for Boston. It is one of the largest museums in the United States with over 450,000 works of art in its collection. Every wednesday they offer guests free admission starting at 4:00 PM. Side note if you happen to have a Bank of America card, you can enjoy free admission to the MFA and the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the first full weekend of every month. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum also offers free birthday admission.
